Sting's son to play Club NME LA

London rockers Fiction Plane, fronted by Sting's son Joe Sumner, are set to play Club NME Los Angeles with Fred Perry Subculture tomorrow night (May 23).

The trio were recently selected to open for The Police on several dates of their world tour.

Los Angeles locals Castaneda are set to headline, bringing their indie rock and electro-pop tunes to Club NME-goers.

Resident DJ Dia and surprise guest DJs will spin a mix of rock, electronica, punk and hip-hop before and after the set.

Club NME with Fred Perry takes place at Spaceland in the Silver Lake neighbourhood of Los Angeles every Wednesday night.

Next Wednesday (May 30), Brakes, Brakes, Brakes and Electric Soft Parade are set to headline Club NME LA with Fred Perry Subculture.

Beyonce ditches plans to play Malaysia citing 'scheduling conflicts'

Beyonce has cancelled a scheduled show in Malaysia, instead choosing to perform in Indonesia on her visit to the region.

The singer has cited a scheduling conflict as the reason for the November 1 cancellation, although rumours are rife that it was due to strict Muslim rules about how women performers should dress.

Indonesia is also a Muslim country, but its rules are not as strict as those in Malaysia that insist women cover up from shoulders to knees.

Beyonce will now perform on that date in Jakarta.

According to the Associated Press, Razlan Ahmad Razali, the chairman of Pineapple Concerts who were due to stage the show said they were "disappointed and frustrated" that the concert was pulled from Malaysia.

Gwen Stefani agreed to cover up for her performance in Kuala Lumper last August, but said it was a "major sacrifice".
